How To Find a Nanny Housekeeper? Simple Guide

Find a Nanny Housekeeper

Struggling how to find a nanny housekeeper? You don’t know how to look after your child when you work evenings, Wednesdays or weekends? Even if you find a place in a crèche, this type of childcare will not suit your schedule? For parents who need flexibility, hiring a live-in nanny is the most practical solution. But how to find a nanny, where to find the right contacts?

Nanny or childminder, what are the differences?

Although they are both called “nanny”, the jobs of childminder and nanny are not exactly the same. The childminder works only during the day and takes care of the children in her care at home or in a MAM (Maternal Assistants’ Home).

The difference is that the nanny (or babysitter) comes to your home to look after your child or to another family in the case of shared custody. It is a secure solution that adapts to your lifestyle and can, moreover, be used regularly or occasionally.

Please note: to look after children at home, nannies must be officially recognized as approved childminders (title issued by the Departmental Council).

Where can I find a nanny from the people around me?

First of all, when looking for a live-in nanny, we can consider starting from those around us and asking relatives and friends if they have any recommendations or introductions. This will help us get to know the candidates better and build trust more easily.

Find a regular housekeeping agency online

Secondly, you can also search for relevant agency information on the Internet, conduct screening and comparison, conduct a simple interview or telephone communication with the aunts recommended by them to confirm their basic situation and work experience, and then sign a contract for further assessment during the probation period.

Several points to note when interviewing a nanny

At the same time, you should pay attention to the following points when contacting candidates:

  1. Confirm whether the other party has relevant certificates or qualifications.
  2. Ask the other party if they have experience in caring for semi-autonomous elderly people, and understand their specific operations and problem-solving abilities.
  3. Communicate the expectations of both parties regarding working hours, remuneration, etc. to avoid any confusion or conflict in the later stage.
  4. Before hiring a nanny, you must conduct a strict background check, including ID card, place of residence and other information. You can also refer to the evaluation and feedback of other families or community agencies to comprehensively judge whether the candidate meets the requirements.

Conclusion

Finding a good live-in nanny housekeeper is very important for taking care of the semi-autonomous elderly in the family, but you must be careful and do more comparisons and screenings. I hope the above points can help you find a live-in nanny that suits your family’s needs and provide considerate and thoughtful services to the elderly.

FAQs

Does a nanny live with you?

If you find yourself with sufficient space and require a childcare arrangement that offers greater flexibility, a live-in nanny could prove to be the perfect solution for you. Additionally, it’s feasible to locate a nanny who is available to work on weekdays while residing in your home and then spends weekends residing elsewhere – an option that could hold appeal for certain families.

What is the difference between a nanny and a nanny housekeeper?

While nanny housekeepers may undertake basic housekeeping tasks as part of their daily nanny responsibilities, housekeeper nannies explicitly agree to incorporate such duties into their contractual obligations. This means they possess higher qualifications in housekeeping and consequently dedicate a larger portion of their working hours to these tasks.

What is the purpose of a live-in nanny?

It’s important for live-in nannies to have a clear understanding of their daily responsibilities and the expectations placed upon them. Their primary role entails providing care and supervision for your children, tending to their various needs. Additionally, live-in nannies are capable of assuming all supplementary nursery duties as required.

How To Get Rid Of Dog Lice

Dog lice

Dog lice are a nightmare for every pet owner. They can attack unexpectedly, and the fight against them often resembles a fight with windmills that lasts for months. The presence of lice on a dog’s body causes great discomfort, itching and pain, and the lice themselves multiply at an alarming rate and are extremely easy to transmit from one host to another. Although dog lice do not spread to humans, other dogs living in the house and the immediate vicinity can catch them from one dog.

Dog lice – what are the symptoms of lice?

Dog lice are tiny, crawling, wingless insects that live on a dog’s skin, feed on its blood and multiply quickly. Their bites cause a strong allergic reaction in dogs, which results in itching . The dog starts scratching intensively and licking its fur. This will most likely lead to further irritations and wounds, and small red spots from bites will appear on the skin.

Lice spreads easily when animals, like dogs, are in close contact. That’s why you often see infestations in places with lots of animals, such as shelters or temporary homes, and among animals living in the wild.

Dog lice do not transmit to humans because they have different food preferences and therefore, once they infest, they generally stick to one species of host.

Life cycle of lice

The most common target of dog lice attacks are puppies and young dogs, but they can also be found in older and weakened animals. They live in places on the dog’s body where the animal cannot easily get rid of them, for example on the neck or the front of the chest. They also attack the eye and ear areas.

The entire life cycle of lice is limited to one dog. Dog lice live for about 60 days, during which time they copulate and leave eggs on the dog’s body, i.e. nits, which resemble tiny grains of rice and stick to the hair shaft using a special substance, as strong as cement. One female can lay up to 10 eggs daily. Their incubation period lasts 8-10 days and they reach adulthood within a month.

Nits are resistant to most anti-lice cosmetics, so even if we no longer see lice on our dog, cosmetic treatments should be repeated after some time. The louse itself cannot survive away from its host for more than a few days.

Dog lice – are they dangerous?

A dog’s lice infestation can usually be recognized “by eye” because you can see small dots jumping on its skin, but sometimes a parasitological examination may be necessary. Due to the fact that lice are often accompanied by other bacterial diseases, it is worth supporting the diagnosis with examination of stools, scrapings, urine and cytological examination of the skin.

Lice infestation can lead to general weakness of the body and even to anemia, so this disease must be treated with the help and supervision of a veterinarian .

Unfortunately, due to the presence of nits, which are resistant to most cosmetics, and generally numerous skin lesions that appear as a result of scratching and irritation, treating lice in dogs is not easy. Special care should be taken to remove all eggs from the skin, as nits can hatch and turn into lice, causing lice to return up to 10 days after the eggs are left. Appropriate treatment of skin lesions resulting from scratching and bites is also important.

Dog lice – home remedies

Getting rid of lice requires appropriate treatment. First of all, remember that the invasion of these troublesome insects is highly infectious, so it is necessary to separate the infected dog from other pets, as well as take care of the hygiene and disinfection of its surroundings – the bed, toys and grooming accessories.

Anti-flea shampoos

The therapy itself involves bathing the dog with dedicated preparations. The most popular preparations are anti-flea shampoos, which are used on the entire body. It is worth investing in higher-end preparations, because the cheaper ones only remove lice and may leave nits. Herbal preparations also show low effectiveness in completely eliminating the problem.

Spray preparations for lice on dogs

Spray preparations are also available on the market, but they are usually applied topically, which significantly reduces their effectiveness. The situation is similar with anti-flea powders and powders.

There are products on the market that also kill larvae, but they are much more expensive. In addition, we can get spot-on preparations, which seem to work most effectively. When applied to the neck, they get into the skin and kill both parasites and larvae within 24 hours.

During therapy, you should limit bathing your dog and, if necessary, choose a shampoo that does not violate the lipid barrier of the dog’s skin, because this is where the active substance of these preparations accumulates. It is worth using anti-flea collars as a preventive measure, but remember to replace them regularly.

FAQs

What to do if your dog has lice?

The most effective way to combat fleas on a dog is to use professional veterinary preparations . At your veterinarian, you will get both a good quality, effective flea shampoo and products in the form of drops to apply to your dog’s skin.

Does vinegar kill lice?

One of the most common home remedies for lice is vinegar. Using vinegar to combat lice involves washing the scalp and hair with a solution of vinegar and water. It can help dissolve the substance that keeps nits stuck to your hair, making them easier to remove.

Can a person get lice from a dog?

The only hosts for head lice are humans, so it is impossible for a dog, cat or hamster to transmit them to humans. It is true that there are lice that live on animals, but they do not pose a threat to humans.
