"My heart is in the East but, I am at the edge of the West..." Written by Yehudah Halevi, the renowned rabbi, poet, and philosopher, who lived most of his life in medieval Spain, the words of this famous poem live on as a symbol of the yearning of the Jewish soul to connect with its spiritual source, the land of Israel.

From medieval Spain to modern Israel, this deeply moving program includes Manuel de Falla's famous song cycle for voice and guitar and Moses Ibn Ezra's medieval poetry sung in English. We will hear traditional songs of the Sephardi Jews sung in Ladino, the traditional Castilian language spoken in the Diaspora for centuries. Piyutim, liturgical poems, and popular Israeli songs composed with Sephardic flair round out the program.

Cantor Shiree Kidron will perform this hauntingly beautiful and emotive program with acclaimed classical guitarist Nadav Lev, accompanied by renowned musicians Adam Fisher, cellist, and  Rex Benincasa, percussionist.

The concert will be followed by a reception.
