Uri Gurvich

(Tonight at 7:30, 9:30 & 11:30) — The Israeli-raised, New York-based saxophonist and composer Uri Gurvich has been hailed as "a major new voice in jazz" (All Music Guide) and his music has been described as "transcending borders" (LA Times). His latest album is "Kinship," tying together the Israeli, South American and African American roots of his group.

With Peter Slavov on bass and Francisco Mela on drums.

"Jazz is an indigenous American art form, but it is also a thoroughly global enterprise. And few of the music's practitioners embody its universality more completely than saxophonist Uri Gurvich." — Downbeat
