Party with Yiddish dance teacher Steven Weintraub, who is in demand internationally, and top-top klezmer musicians Michael Winograd (clarinet), Lauren Brody (accordian) and Aaron Alexander (drums).

Steve Weintraub is a teacher, choreographer, and performer of Jewish dance, particularly Yiddish dance, the dance to klezmer music. Born on Governor’s Island, bar mitzvahed in the Bronx and living now in Philadelphia, Weintraub received his dance training in Manhattan with Alvin Ailey and Erick Hawkins among others. He is in international demand as a teacher of traditional Yiddish dance at festivals and workshops including Klezkamp, Klezkanada and festivals in Krakow, Furth, Paris and London.

Clarinetist Michael Winograd is one of the most respected and versatile working musicians in klezmer music today. He is one third of the transatlantic klezmer/cabaret collective Yiddish Art Trio, clarinetist of Tarras Band, a classic 1950s Jewish American tribute group, and the co-founder and director of the ground breaking, borderless world fusion band Sandaraa.

Lauren Brody, a founding member of both Kapelye and Mikve, is one of the world’s foremost experts in traditional Bulgarian music, and her singing and accordion-playing in Yiddish performances is legendary.

Aaron Alexander, drums, is Founding Artistic Director of the NY Klezmer Series, and has had the honor of performing with many wonderful musicians throughout his career. His recent CD "The Klez Messengers" is a trio with Michael Winograd and Patrick Farrell and honors the sound of the classic Dave Tarras Trio and the reverence to tradition and innovation of Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers.
