Pastrami Bar: A Deli-cious Happy Hour

Join other young adults to pair Jewish nosh with Jewish beer, led by Ben's Deli and Shmaltz Brewery.

We’ll begin by learning the art of making a perfect pastrami sandwich and create our own sliders. This interactive workshop is catered by Ben's Deli and led by manager Hal Simon, who has worked at the iconic kosher deli since 1980. Hal began as a “schlepper” behind the counter when he was 16 years old, then as a meat slicer, eventually working his way up to managing Ben’s seven locations.

We’ll then pair our pastrami sliders with a limited-edition Pastrami Pilsner. Shmaltz’s founder, Jeremy Cowan, will lead us in a tasting and pairing of his seasonal beer, which is brewed with cracked black pepper, mustard seed, ground caraway seed, natural horseradish flavors, kosher salt, and spices. Famous for their He’brew (and She’brew!) beer, we’ll l’chaim with Jeremy and learn how a joke with friends 21 years ago about launching a Jewish brewery turned into an award-winning brand.
