Miriam Waks' "Tales from a Room" — ALBUM LAUNCH

Miriam Waks ("Eli, Eli" and "Ghosts of the Ghetto: Bialystok, 1943") makes her debut appearance at Rockwood Music Hall for the release of her first originals album, "Tales from a Room." Recorded in Nashville and New York, "Tales from a Room" features 11 original songs penned by Miriam, marking her transition from song-interpreter to song-writer. She traverses a wide range of musical and thematic landscapes including paying homage to her first love — music, assuming the mythical identity of Achilles’ lover Patroclus, re-interpreting the feminist writings of Virginia Woolf, and playfully exploring her own “whiteness”. Through this musical offering, Miriam’s strong sense of narrative and poetry take centre-stage, continuing a musical storytelling tradition reminiscent of artists such as Kate Bush and Joni Mitchell.

Miriam Waks sings in 17 languages and has performed at venues and residencies across the globe including New York, France, Cuba, Brussels, Edinburgh, London, Italy, India, Macau, & Hong Kong.
