Israeli Folk Dancing on Broadway

(Sept. 1-4) — Several stars will be part of the cast at the 26th annual SHORASHIM — Roots of Israeli Folkdance — on Labor Day weekend. This is our biggest Israeli dance event of the year and includes several stars. Scroll down for schedule and prices.

Workshops will be taught by Shmulik Gov-Ari, renowned Israeli choreographer whose classic Israeli folk dances are popular throughout the world. Shmulik has created a wide variety of dances, including those with Yemenite styling reflecting his own ethnic background.

Another Shorashim cast member will be Ruth Goodman, director of the Israeli Dance Institute, the annual Israel Folk Dance Festival and the Jewish/Israeli Dance Division of the 92 St. Y in New York. As in past years. Ruth brings her many dance talents to Shorashim.

Rounding out the Shorashim cast is Danny Pollock, a well-known master teacher of Israeli folk dance in the New York region. “Dancing Danny” brings a lot of fun and joy to workshops as well as nightly parties.

Ruth and Danny will teach dances created to a wide variety of music ranging from Israeli folk songs to Eastern European melodies to Arabic style debkas.
