Hazmat Modine

Hazmat Modine draws from the rich soil of American music of the 20s and 30s through to the 50s and early 60s, blending elements of early blues, hokum jugband, swing, klezmer, New Orleans R & B and Jamaican rocksteady. Equipped with harmonica, a scintillating sousaphone, and myriad guest performers, the band runs the gamut of genres and instrumentation. Most of it's tunes are originals, but keep an ear out for cover versions of Slim Gaillard, Jimmy Rogers, Jaybird Coleman and Irving Berlin. Lead Wade Schuman will send the audience home humming & stomping.

Hazmat Modine has collaborated/performed with a vast range of artists including Bombino, Kronos Quartet, Cat Empire, the Gangbe Brass band from Benin, and Natalie Merchant.
