Diaspora Songs: Yiddish Meets Ladino with Sarah Aroeste + Anthony Mordechai Tzvi Russell

As part of Carnegie Hall's "Migrations, The Making of America festival and co-sponsored by the Yiddish Book Center."

Ladino vocalist Sarah Aroeste and Yiddish vocalist Anthony Mordechai Tzvi Russell join forces to explore common themes and approaches in Ladino and Yiddish music. Accompanied by pianist/accordionist Dmitri Gaskin and guitarist Rob Sanzone, Sarah and Anthony musically reconcile these long-lost cousins of Jewish music.

Sarah Aroeste, inspired by her family's Sephardic roots in Greece and Macedonia, has spent 15 years bringing her contemporary style of original and traditional Ladino music to audiences around the world. Anthony Mordechai Tzvi Russell is a vocalist, composer and arranger specializing in Yiddish art and folk song, khazones and Chassidic nigunim.

Copresented with the Yiddish Book Center. This program was commissioned especially for the Yiddish Book Center's Yidstock: The Festival of New Yiddish Music.
