Anthony Coleman

AFMDA - Join Us and Help Save Lives in Israel

Pianist and composer Anthony Coleman is not easily summed up in a short blurb. He came out of NEC’s Third Stream program, where he now teaches, and started his recording career with some of NY’s most significant composers, such as Glenn Branca and John Zorn. He went on to work on numerous projects with Zorn, as well Marc Ribot, Elliott Sharp, Dave Douglas and many others. Coleman’s projects as a leader reflect his many interests — from recording the works of Mordechai Gebirtig to a solo piano album of Jelly Roll Morton’s music to his Jewish music project the Sephardic Tinge or Selfhaters, his duo with Roy Nathanson. This week:
Anthony Coleman on piano & organ; Acclaimed klezmer artist Michael Winograd on clarinet.
