With a career spanning the pages of the New York Times to MAD magazine, the front lines of political cartoonery at World War 3 to the classroom at Harvard and SVA, the artist and illustrator Peter Kuper, an American who's logged some time in Israel, is a bona fide veteran of the graphic novel scene. His latest book, "Ruins," tells a story of coincidence and fate as a New York couple sets out on sabbatical in Oaxaca, Mexico, and a monarch butterfly departs Canada for sunnier climes in its annual migration.

Joining Peter for the New York City launch of "Ruins" will be Karen Green, librarian of both graphic novels and ancient and medieval history at Columbia University.
